House Warming Party

A couple weeks ago we got to participate in one of Ten Thousand Homes' house parties. A few blogs ago I wrote about Natando, an orphaned boy with four brothers who TTH is building a house for. I helped with the painting on the windows the one day. Well the day came for them to officially move in and for the house to be theirs. We really wanted to make it a big celebration for them so we made decorations and paper chains and hung up balloons and made snacks. I had this idea that we should do an art project with them and so me and my teammate Scott painted a mural that we then wanted to get everyones handprints at the party so we could hang it in their house. They have very little personal items so we wanted to help brighten the new home up. TTH's goal is to build home in each house that they build and I felt it so much that day. It was such a beautiful moment to be a part of this house warming and to celebrate and throw a party for these boys, we even made them invitations :) Some of the TTH staff took some time to say thanks and share the gospel and say just how much Jesus loves and cares for them. It was a really wonderful day, one of my favorite moments since working with TTH. Everyone was is good spirits and even the boy's GoGo (grandma) put her handprint on the art peace :) :) :) Natando hungout with me for a lot of the party and I noticed him wiping his eyes a few times during the message. I really think it sunk in and I think he really felt loved that day. He kept saying thank you, thank you, for building this house. He said he loved parties and his grandma is so thankful too. Its so touching what TTH is doing and I feel so blessed to be a part of it and to see these boys have a new home. I couldn't stop smiling all day. I'm so blessed that the painting in now hanging in their home, I feel like a piece of me is there and I pray they will always feel loved, blessed, and protected in their new house.

Uvikelekile is the name we gave the house.. it means "The Sanctuary"
.."Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings..." -Psalm 61:4
